Is this a joke? Another refund check coming our way, this time from the state?

Yes, most all of us Michigan drivers will get a $400 refund check from the Catastrophic Claims Association no later than early May, according to the state.

Fox17 reported Governor Whitmer announced $3 billion in refunds coming to drivers from the MCCA in the form of $400 per vehicle. Sweet!

Now, you're wondering if there is a catch, or are only a few eligible. Nope, no catch, and most all insured drivers will get the check. The refunds will go to policyholders for every vehicle that was insured as of 11:59 p.m. on Oct. 31, 2021, and we should see the checks no later than mid-May.

Officially, here is what the state says:

"All vehicles that were insured as of 11:59 p.m. on October 31, 2021 are eligible to receive a refund if the vehicle was covered by a policy that meets the minimum insurance requirements for operating a vehicle on Michigan roads (See MCL 500.3101 and MCL 500.3103) A refund check or an ACH deposit will be issued to eligible Michigan policyholders. If you are eligible to receive a refund, it will be sent to you by your insurance company and you will not have to do anything to receive it."

And, Motorcycles are eligible too. The same rules apply that the bike had to be insured by a policy that meets the minimum requirements for operating on Michigan roads.

So, Christmas is coming just a bit early for 2022, and we can always use a little early Christmas!
