There will always be exceptions to the rules, but below are things everyone in West Michigan should do when it snows.

It only takes 10-15 minutes to completely clear the snow off your car. It's important for your safety to be able to see out all of your mirrors.

It also keeps people behind you from having their vision decreased on the road by snow flying off your car.

This one is pretty self-explanatory, but since it's a West Michigan PSA, a friendly reminder that if your neighbor took the time to grab a shovel and clear out a spot, don't be a rude jerk and take it later when they leave.

It's not hard to lose control when it starts snowing. Most people slow down and drive with caution, but there are always those people who think that having a 4-wheel drive vehicle means they can go faster than everyone else.

Some people don't have a car or a method of transportation so they have to walk to nearby stores or work. Not shoveling your sidewalk makes it harder for them to get where they need to be. If they need to get around in a wheelchair, that task becomes impossible.

The men and women that deliver our mail and our precious Amazon packages not only have to drive around in the terrible weather, they also have to get out and walk in it to bring things to our front door. That task is made harder by having to trek through the snow on your sidewalk and driveway.

Please follow these simple steps to help make West Michigan a better place.

If you don't have the decency to do these things then you're a giant SNOW-HOLE
