On Mother's Day Halestorm premiered the lyric video for their new song "Dear Daughter"

The band posted the video to Facebook with the message,

"Happy Mother's Day everyone! We thought today would be as good a day as any to premiere the official lyric video for "Dear Daughter". Enjoy!"

The track is from Halestorm's third album Into the Wild Life which came out April 14.

In an interview with AXS, singer Lzzy Hale said "Dear Daughter" was inspired by a conversation she had with her own mother last year.

Lzzy told AXS,

“My parents are extremely supportive, especially my mother. She was a very strong figure in my life and she always encouraged me not to just be the wife in the kitchen, but to go after my dreams ... she always, always encouraged me to unapologetically be myself.”

During this particular conversation, though, Lzzy's mother had a bout of self-doubt, questioning whether she'd done the right thing in encouraging her kids to go down this path. Lzzy responded by reminding her mother that without her mom's support, she never would have been brave enough to fight for this life and go on to win a Grammy.

“But then I started thinking, if and when I were to have a child ... will I be brave enough and have enough of my parents’ childish reckless abandon approach to parenting to let my kids do what they want?!”

Lzzy took the conversation to Twitter, getting fans' input on their childhoods and thoughts they'd want to share with the next generation.

“It was such an amazing conversation. The song turned out to be this very strange ode to all of those things and to growing up. I just thought it was something important for people to hear.”

Halestorm is currently on tour, playing Rock on the Range this weekend, and coming to the Orbit Room in Grand Rapids July 2nd!
