Virtual Music Festival Supports Michigan Artists This Weekend
The coronavirus pandemic has affected musicians everywhere, including here in Michigan. Artists have been forced to cancel or postpone live shows, resulting in a loss of income.
This weekend, as we're all staying inside, here is a way to stay entertained AND support our local musicians: Michigan Music Alliance is hosting a virtual music festival through Sunday night, Wood TV 8 reports.
Elle Lively, executive director of Michigan Music Alliance told Wood TV 8,
“Everyone is cooped up, needs something to do. So, we’re providing four days of continuous music from your favorite Michigan artists on the hour, every day. Everyone is livestreaming. We’re going old school. Before Spotify and the streaming services, you had to buy an album if you wanted to support the artist. We’re right back at that place.”
You can watch Michigan musicians streaming live here through Sunday at 11:30p.m. and help support them at the Michigan Artist Relief GoFundMe.
The Michigan Music Alliance is considering more virtual festivals beyond this weekend. Stay tuned for updates here.
