Vote Now: This Michigan Bed & Breakfast Could Be No. 1
If you’re looking for a getaway that’s more personal than a hotel, with cozy vibes and a homemade breakfast waiting for you each morning, this charming retreat in West Michigan might just fit the bill— and it’s getting national attention!

USA Today and 10Best are asking their readers "What's the Best Bed and Breakfast in the Country?" A panel of travel experts has chosen twenty excellent inns from around the U.S. and now it's up to a public vote to determine the top ten.
Representing Michigan is Judson Heath Colonial Inn in Saugatuck. Located right in the heart of town, this historic property dates back to 1837.

It was originally built by Elnathan Judson as a stagecoach stop and tavern in Gull Prairie. Later, he moved the structures, along with his family and businesses to Butler Street in Saugatuck (then called Newark). Over the decades, the property has served as a private residence, rest home, resort, and more.
In 2017, innkeepers Stephen Boyd and Jennifer Davenport took on a full restoration of the property and gardens, breathing new life into the landmark. With their “Hip & Historic” mantra, they’ve created a place where guests can enjoy modern comforts while experiencing glimpses of the inn’s frontier-era past.

The inn has eight guest rooms, each with elegant touches like antique furnishings, plush linens, and private baths. Rooms have flat screen TVs, wi-fi, and some even have Jacuzzis! Guests can unwind on the front porch, stroll through manicured gardens, or curl up with a book in one of the cozy common areas.
Every morning begins with a gourmet breakfast made from locally sourced ingredients—just one of the many reasons visitors return again and again

And when it’s time to explore, the inn’s prime location makes it easy to walk to Saugatuck’s art galleries, boutiques, wineries, restaurants, and the famous Oval Beach.
You can cast your vote for Judson Heath Colonial Inn once per day through August 4 at noon here.
Last year a different Michigan bed and breakfast scored the No. 3 spot in the contest. See which other Saugatuck inn is also extraordinary.
