Tool is a band that doesn't do many interviews but I have found some of the best and some rare interviews.

I think one thing that all Tool fans appreciate about the band is, they typically let the music do the talking and do not do a lot of interviews. Even the singer Maynard James Keenan doesn't stand out front like most singers. He is usually on the left side of the stage in the back and it's usually dark where he is located and he just sings his parts while only addressing the crowd with very few words throughout the entire show.

Joe Rogan Interviews Maynard James Keenan of Tool

Joe Rogan has been in the news a lot lately for his opinions on COVID-19 and vaccines. If you put that aside for a moment, Rogan is still a very good interviewer, and the one he did with Maynard James Keenan on his podcast is a great interview and he really allows you to get to know Keenan. This is a long interview but it is so worth watching if you want to learn more about Maynard. I know I learned a ton.

Rare Tool Full Band Interview

This is a great interview because it captures the time after Tool's 5-year hiatus. This is just after their album Lateralus came out. This interview covers the band from their beginning when the Opiate ep came out up to Lateralus.

Rare TV Interview With Tools Adam Jones and Maynard James Keenan

What is so funny about this interview, is it took place on MTV and you can tell both Adam and Maynard don't want to be there. The interviewer is a great example of why Tool doesn't like to do interviews. There is a great section near the end where Adam talks about how the band builds an idea from the ground up.

Maynard James Keenan Interviewed for Headbangers Ball

This was an interview done with Keenan for Headbangers Ball that aired on MTV but it was done in 1993 at the Dronten Lowlands Festival. Listen very close to Maynard's first answer, I can guarantee you will laugh out loud. I may make a t-shirt out of that answer. Also, if you listen closely, you can hear Rage Against the Machine performing in the background.

David Cross of Mr. Show Interviews Tool's Maynard James Keenan

Actor David Cross of the HBO classic Mr. Show that also starred Bob Odenkirk did an interview for Revolver Magazine. Keenan was actually on the very first episode of Mr. Show and 25 years later is interviewed by Cross. This is a very unique and fun conversation.

Funny Moments With Tool

To show that the members of Tool are not too serious and that they have a great sense of humor. Here are some of the funniest moments from Tool's history.
