Former Blink-182 frontman Tom DeLonge hired the Pentagon’s chief UFO investigator after he resigned from the government body, a new report has revealed.

DeLonge’s organization, the To the Stars Academy of Arts and Science, found a role for Luis Elizondo after he quit the Pentagon in October. He’d previously headed up the Department of Defense's Advanced Aerospace Threat Identification Program, which started up in 2007 and was defunded in 2012, although it’s said to remain operational. The obscure name was designed to disguise the fact that the U.S. Department of Defense was spending $22 million on searching for UFOs, the New York Times reported.

“The more I got into it, the more I realized it was all real,” DeLonge told Rolling Stone in April. “Then I was like, ‘OK, what am I going to do about it?’” He argued his case that aliens had visited Earth on many occasions and had even helped humanity develop technology. “What would happen if those intelligences were roaming around the universe and getting involved in the genetics and colonization of other types of life?” he said. “Look, we do that to animals and indigenous tribes.” He later added: “This project is aimed at creating a beacon and a vehicle to be able to interact directly with Millennials across the world. Some of this stuff is empowering, and some of this stuff is frankly kind of scary. But you need to understand it, and you're going to need to deal with it when we're gone.”

Along with Elizondo, the TTS Academy also works with a former CIA contractor and an ex-deputy assistant secretary of defense for intelligence. The Academy’s existence is described as “a consortium among science, aerospace and entertainment that will work collectively to allow gifted researchers the freedom to explore exotic science and technologies with the infrastructure and resources to rapidly transition them to products that can change the world.”

To that end, they revealed a clip of a declassified U.S. government video, shot in 2004, which they say “can be rightfully designated as credible, authentic confirmation that unidentified aerial phenomena (UAP) are real.” Watch it below.
