There’s A Gator On The Loose At One Michigan Park

If you plan to go to the park this weekend, there is one Michigan park you may want to avoid since there is a warning to be on the lookout for an alligator.

Alligators in Michigan?

Michigan has wildlife in many varieties, but one animal Michiganders normally do not have to worry about is an alligator in any of the swamps, ponds, lakes, and rivers...or do they?

Usually, when a Michigander spots an alligator it is at one of the many zoos in the state or they are on vacation in Florida. Occasionally, an alligator is spotted in Michigan's waters, and police say to be on the lookout for one in a popular Michigan park.

Beware: Alligator Spotted in Lake at Kensington Metropark

I used to spend a lot of time at Kensington Metropark. I loved fishing Kent Lake and they have a 10-mile trail that goes around it that I used to rollerblade or ride a bike around. It is a beautiful trail to hike or jog around too. I used to bassfish the lake and did quite well, but one thing I never saw was an alligator.

A person has reported seeing an alligator in Kent Lake and now police have ordered signs to be put up all around Kensington Metro Park as seen above. There must have been a pretty credible sighting for the Michigan Department of Natural Resources, Oakland County Sherriff's Office, and the Detroit Zoo to be working on finding the alleged alligator. According to Hometown Life, this is not the first time an alligator has been on the loose in Milford near Kensington Metro Park. In 2019, a four-foot pet alligator named Puff escaped his owner but neighbors and police were able to catch it before it was able to find a new home at Kent Lake.

Milford seems to be where people keep unusual animals because there was a report of an emu being on the loose during COVID-19 that was captured and returned to its owner. There is no word if that emu was the one who does TV commercials for Liberty Mutual Insurance.
