All NCAA Tournament Basketball Courts Are Made In A Small UP Town
It is the greatest weekend in sports every year: the opening weekend of the NCAA College Basketball Tournament. 68 of the best teams in college hoops battle it out over four weekends until only one team sits atop the college basketball throne. The teams play around the country, however, there is one consistent thing: the court they play on.

Every team plays on a custom-made March Madness wooden court, and every one of those courts is made in one of the smallest towns in Michigan. Say hello to Amasa, Michigan.
Small But Mighty
With a meager population of 195 and a town size of 4 miles, the town of Amasa seems like a very random place to handle the hefty task of creating every court for a tournament on the scale of the NCAA. However, when you realize what company is there, it makes sense.
Connor Sports
Few know that one of the world's leading hardwood sports flooring manufacturers, Connor Sports, is based in the U.P. They also create courts for the Summer Olympic Games, the FIBA World Cup, 15 NBA teams including the Boston Celtics, and more. They have been official court creators of March Madness since 2006.
On top of creating the courts, Connor Sports also measures and paints all courts as well, handling court creation from start to finish. They faced a minor controversy in 2024 when one of the NCAA Women's courts had a 3-point line that measured 9 inches too short. Otherwise, Connor has a fantastic track record and continues to be a close partner to the NCAA.
