Tenacious D a Member Down, Jack Black Has Walked
Tenacious D had recently kicked off a tour but something happened during a live show that caused Jack Black to step away from the band. Find out what happened here.
Tenacious D
For those familiar with Tenacious D I know you know who they are but for those who don't, the band features actor/musician Jack Black and musician/actor Kyle Gass. The pair formed the comedy rock duo in L.A. in 1994.
Tenacious D became buddies with Dave Grohl of Nirvana/Foo Fighters and has toured with Pearl Jam, Tool, Weezer, and Beck, plus have become headliners of their own shows that typically sell out.
Tenacious has recorded and released 4 studio albums including Tenacious D, The Pick of Destiny, Rize of the Fenix, and Post-Apocalypto. The duo also made one of my favorite rock movies "The Pick of Destiny." If you are a musician, know one, or just love band stuff, much like Spinal Tap, The Pick of Destiny is a must-watch and very funny.

Jack Black Steps Away From Tenacious D During Tour
Tenacious D recently hit the road in Australia for a tour that would take them to Zealand and the United States. Sunday night while the band was performing in Australia, an incident occurred on stage that led to Jack Black announcing he was stepping away from the band with all plans on hold.
Sunday was Black's partner in the band Kyle Gass's birthday. Like most bands do while on tour, try and make the most of their bandmates' birthday by having a little stage celebration. A birthday cake was brought on stage for Gass, but it's what happened next that led to Black's taking a hiatus from Tenacious D.
According to WOOD, when Black asked Gass to make a wish when blowing out the candles on the birthday cake Gass said, "Don't miss Trump next time." This very inappropriate message came just after an attempted assassination of former President Donald J. Trump. Black said, "I was blindsided by what was said at the show on Sunday. I would never condone hate speech or encourage political violence in any form." Black went on to say he feels it's inappropriate to continue the tour.
Tenacious D was set to play a sold-out show at Kalamazoo's Wings Event Center on October 25 but as of now, the tour has been canceled. If you purchased tickets, you need to get your refund at your point of purchase.
