Good news for the kids - Masks will no longer be required in Grand Rapids Public Schools in the near future.

The irony of it all? The man refused to wear a mask at the hospital his sick child was being cared for at.

With the recent increase in COVID-19 cases and the rise in prevalence of the Delta variant, the City of Grand Rapids is again requiring employees to wear masks indoors.

Grand Rapids Public Schools are set to begin classes on August 24 and the district is updating families on its CoVid recommendations. The Michigan Department of Health and Human Services released new guidance heading into the school year.

This week is seeing many West Michigan businesses slowly get back to normal as the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services is allowing workers who had been working remotely, to return to offices and workplaces across the state. And while those fully vaccinated will have a more traditional workday experience, businesses across the state are also having to deal with those who have not yet completed the vaccination process.

It's been a crazy 24 hours in our current pandemic life, and a big step forward for those of us who are lucky enough to be fully vaccinated. The CDC has essentially said that those fully vaxxed can ditch the mask nearly everywhere.

The Michigan Department of Health and Human Services (MDHHS) has extended its epidemic order on gatherings and masks through May 24.

The masks are a part of the campaign, “For The Love Of Community”, launched by the City of Grand Haven and the Downtown Development Authority to promote unity, safety, and commerce amid the coronavirus pandemic.

The home improvement stores join a growing list of retailers requiring masks nationwide.

While mask requirements differ from state to state, several retailers are making them mandatory in all off their stores nationwide.

This isn't the first announcement from Michigan police that they are at odds with the Governor and will not enforce some of her COVID-19 related policies.

According to several news outlets, a shipment of 400,000 N95 masks was seized by FEMA while they were bound for Michigan, Delaware, and ship captains.
