Local Rock

A couple weeks ago, WGRD hosted our first Christmas Party at the Stache, with Citizen Zero and local rockers Deepfall. It was a great show, and we gave away a ton of cool autographed stuff, including guitars! We've been playing the song "Monster" from Deepfall, and now, the band has released the video for it!

Lansing, MI band Upon Wings has released an EP called 'Afterlife', that also features vocals from Dark New Day's Brett Hestla. If you haven't heard this local band, check them out. Led by Anne Erickson, the band channels a lot of influences from Nightwish, After Forever, Delain, The Gathering, and more. After three weeks of preliminary rounds and seeing the best that West Michigan has to offer, the 2015 GRD Heavyweights have come to a close. Another year of amazing metal has graced that stages of The Stache and the big room at The Intersection in Grand Rapids. This year, the fans voted and the kings have been crowned. Greenville's own Society Kills is the 2015 GRD Heavyweights Champion!

You may have seen this band locally around Grand Rapids, or even more likely at Grand Rapids' Festival of the Arts last year. Local neo-classical female fronted band Aria Flame will be making a trek across the world to the Netherlands to perform in the annual FemME Female Metal Event this October!
