The Rockford and Comstock Park communities accumulated more than $7 million during the 2015 summer season, thanks to visitors to the Rogue River watershed area, according to a study by Grand Valley State University faculty and Trout Unlimited.

Giving Tuesday is an opportunity to take a break from shopping and help local organizations to raise money. Many groups in West Michigan are holding special Giving Tuesday events today.

The winners of ArtPrize Seven were announced tonight at The Grand Rapids Civic Theatre. Two $200,000 Grand Prizes were awarded. The Public Vote winner was Loveless PhotoFiber's "Northwood Awaking." The Jury Award winner is Kate Gilmore's "Higher Ground."

Pamela Alderman's "Hometown Hero" honors the memory of Army Spc. Eric T. Burri. Burri was 21 years old when he gave his life in 2005 while serving in Bagdad. Visitors to the ArtPrize Seven entry are invited to interact by writing the name of their personal hero on the flag.

Julie Green's "The Last Supper" is at Kendall College of Art and Design/Fed Galleries @ KCAD for ArtPrize Seven. The entry shows plates with paintings of death row inmates' last meal requests.

The ArtPrize Seven Jurors' Shortlists were revealed on Monday. The five finalists for Outstanding Venue contained a few regulars. SiTE:LAB, UICA and Kendall College have all been finalists before. The list also contained a couple of surprises with newcomers Processing Fiber at 250 Monroe and Spiral. Take a look inside.

ArtPrize takes over Grand Rapids for a few weeks each fall. We are now familiar with the competition, but it can be difficult to explain to someone who has never attended or isn't from West Michigan. Brian Kelly's new video shares the spirit of ArtPrize Seven. The video shows that ArtPrize is about more than just the art and the voting, it's the people that make the event what it is.

Take a walk along the Grand River at Sixth Street Bridge Park during ArtPrize and one entry is sure to grab your eye, Copy Culture's "Minimalist Division". "Minimalist Division" is a large mirrored cube which allows visitors to walk inside.
