As expected from a teaser announcement last week, System of a Down have revealed a handful of dates for the summer. Deftones will provide support for the trek that kicks off in August.

Both bands foreshadowed the news last Friday (April 20) when System posted a photo of bassist Shavo Odadjian holding up a Deftones "All Access" pass and Deftones did the same, posting a pic of vocalist Chino Moreno posing with a SOAD laminate. The rumor was confirmed today (April 23) when System of a Down posted dates on their official website. Only nine cities have been named so far, with no indication of additional stops.

Tickets for select shows start going on sale May 4. Pre-sale will start on May 1 with more details to be revealed at a later date. Luckily for us Michigan fans, the trek includes a stop at the DTE Energy Music Theatre in Clarkston on August 14.

System of a Down took an extended hiatus in 2006 before reuniting for a string of shows last year. This tour will mark the first time SOAD have been on the road in North America in six years. Drummer John Dolmayan said in an interview last October that the band would work on a new album when they're ready to.
