Surprise! Grand Rapids’ Teazers Bar & Grill Closes
In a sort of surprise move, the North Monroe neighborhood bar Teazers Bar & Grill closed Thursday night.
The bar has been purchased and a new eating-and-drinking establishment is going to take its place.
Third Coast Development announced Teazers' closing and that it "intends to promptly begin renovating the facility at 819 Ottawa Avenue NW into a yet-to-be-named bar and grill that will be owned and operated by local restaurant industry veteran Kevin Farhat."
Billy Anderson, who owned Teazers, said: “I’ve greatly enjoyed running Teazers for all these years, but it’s time for me to move on. I’m confident that Kevin and the guys at Third Coast will create a terrific new concept that I believe will continue to serve this neighborhood very well."
Third Coast partners David Levitt, Brad Rosely and Max Benedict will own the two-story building, while Farhat will own the establishment. Levitt and Rosely also co-own popular Mexican restaurant El Barrio Mexican Grill, 545 Michigan Street NE.
“I’m very excited at opening an establishment in this neighborhood,” Farhat said in a statement.
More information on the new establishment is expected to be released early next month.
I had been to Teazers a couple of times. It was a nice place and I hope everyone involved is happy with the outcome. While it's always sad to see a place close, its good when it's replaced by something to keep business in the area.
