St. Joseph County Cemetery Vandalized, More Than 30 Headstones Damaged

The second cemetery in a month in Southwest Michigan has been vandalized.

Sturgis Police are looking for suspects who damaged more than 30 headstones at Oaklawn Cemetery in St. Joseph County, MLive reports. 

It is believed the cemetery was vandalized sometime between April 1 and April 3. Many of the headstones were historical, dating back to the 1800s.

Over $50,000 in damage was caused. The city is offering a $1,000 reward to anyone who provides information.

This incident follows a similar one earlier this month at the Lacota Cemetery in Van Buren County. Three teenagers eventually admitted they had caused the damage for fun and because they were bored.
