If you love sports and you love going to the casino, March 11 may be a day or two that you have rooms at one of the Detroit casinos because that is the day sports gambling will begin.

According to FOX 17, there still needs to be one final approval meeting with the Michigan Gaming Control Board but its pretty much a done deal and just in time for the college basketball tournament to begin.

The Michigan Gaming Control Board executive director, Richard S. Kalm said, "with just 11 weeks to prepare, MGCB staff worked hard to make the launch of onsite sports betting at the Detroit casinos possible by March Madness. The casinos and their suppliers helped us by their timely efforts to share information we needed to authorize the gaming. The new gaming opportunity has been highly anticipated, and we hope citizens will enjoy it and see benefits from additional revenue to both the state of Michigan and the city of Detroit."

The Michigan tribes that own the casinos will decide their own regulations of sport gambling on their premises.

By 2021, the MGCD should have all the regulations set for online sport gambling, casino gaming and fantasy sports.
