Michigan lawmakers are looking to increase speed limits in Michigan to 75 mph, some 80 mph.

The legislation was being discussed in the House Transportation and Infrastructure committee until Tuesday when it moved to the House floor for a vote.

Lawmakers are looking to increase 600 miles of rural highway from 70 to 75 mph, 900 miles of roadway from 55 to 60, and some expressways to 80.

According to Daily Detroit, the speed limits could be in place by this summer.
