A snowmobiler is missing after going out on Lincoln Lake Wednesday night in Kent County.

According to WOOD, authorities in Spencer Township, Michigan, are searching for 29-year-old Joe Brown.

Police were contacted Wednesday night at 10:30 p.m. regarding a snowmobile accident on a lake near Gowen.

The person who reached out to the police said he was snowmobiling with another person who was on a separate snowmobile that may have driven the second snowmobile into open water on Lincoln Lake.

The caller was located on unstable ice and had to be rescued by an emergency response crew. The emergency team had to use a hovercraft to get the victim to safety who's condition is not known at this time.

The emergency crew used a hovercraft and a drone with an infrared camera Wednesday night in trying to find the missing snowmobiler but were unable to locate him.

Thursday, an underwater search team has begun trying to locate the man in the daylight hours.
