I thought fleas went away when the cold and snow comes along but I was wrong, there is something called snow fleas and they are found right here in Michigan.

I think at this point we all know what fleas are and like mosquitos, they go away in the winter months to return to be a pain in our and our pets' lives in the spring.
There is a batch of fleas that do not go away for the colder months and they are called snow fleas.
What Is a Snow Flea?
Well, a simple explanation of what a snow flea is, they are basically small insects that appear on or near the snow. You find them in northern regions of the country or on mountains and all across the state of Michigan.
Looking at the photo above, it seems easy to mistake snow fleas for dirty snow when looking at just how small they are compared to a human finger.

Can Humans Get Snow Fleas?
The good news about snow fleas is they are harmless to humans. Snow fleas are different than normal fleas that try to get on pets and wild animals because they actually help break down organic matter that helps enrich our soil.
