There have been some storage issues regarding the Moderna COVID-19 vaccine to Michigan that has compromised 21 shipments.

The Moderna vaccine has to be kept at a specific cold temperature to ensure that it will bes safe and effective for consumers.

According to FOX 17, a total of 21 shipments from McKesson Corporation, a pharmaceutical distributor, were impacted during transport Sunday, January 17. Although the shipments were kept cold, unfortunately they were kept too cold according to Michigan State Police.

The issue with these latest shipments is causing a problem for Oakland, Macomb and Wayne counties. These are the counties with the highest rate of cases so they are first on the list but like any other county, the doses have to be safe in order to distribute.

The roll out of the vaccine has been difficult especially to those who really want to get vaccinated as quickly as possible. Some even fear they may not be able to get a vaccine at all.

With there being issues this early, it shouldn't take too long to get the process down and people should try and have more patients. If it is a year from now and you are not vaccinated yet, then you may have something to be more concerned about.

The best thing to do right now is just get registered to get the vaccine and like any other appointment, just patiently wait your turn. Regardless if you get the vaccine or not, you are still going to have to wear a mask, social distance, wash hands frequently and stay out of crowds for another year.

If you are in the West Michigan area and want to get vaccinated, here is a link to Meijer Pharmacies where you can pre-register.

The main thing at this time is to not panic. This mass vaccination process is large when the government is trying to vaccinate the entire population. I am sure that over the next couple of months getting vaccinated will smooth out just like getting a COVID-19 test.

McKesson is already getting replacement vaccines ready to go to be shipped in no time and things will slowly get back on schedule.
