UPDATE: On Tuesday (April 5), Sepultura confirmed that their drummer, Eloy Casagrande, had exited their ongoing spring tour of North America after injuring his leg. The Brazilian metal band announced Angra's Bruno Valverde as his temporary fill-in. They'll miss their April 5 show in Phoenix due to the swap but expect Casagrande's return for concerts in Mexico later this month.

Sepultura explained in a statement that the drummer had "severely injured his leg, which forces him to leave the tour and go home for proper treatment and to be close to his family. Please wish him all the best and a speedy recovery! We have been lucky enough that Bruno Valverde (Angra) is able to replace Eloy."

On Monday (April 4), Sepultura drummer Eloy Casagrande (pictured above right) reportedly posted and then deleted a statement saying he would exit the group's current tour due to a broken leg, explaining he'd return to the band's native Brazil to recover and that Sepultura would continue without him.

That's according to ThePRP, who noted that Casagrande, the former Iahweh drummer who first joined Sepultura in 2011, said he fractured the tibia and fibula in his right leg after falling offstage during the act's show in El Paso, Texas, on April 3. However, the message is no longer available online.

"It is with deep sadness that I announce that I have unfortunately broken my right leg," Casagrande reportedly said in the statement that was subsequently scrubbed from social media.

He continued, "Yesterday, at the El Paso show, during the break between songs I ended up falling off the stage and fracturing my tibia and fibula. I'm going back to Brazil to start the recovery. I'll see you soon! The tour will continue, but without me."

It's unclear why Casagrande deleted the post. Loudwire wishes him the best in his recovery. See Sepultura's April tour dates below and get tickets here. The band, who most recently released Quadra in 2020, plans to tour Europe this summer and fall.
