Rattlesnake Spotted in Michigan Lake by Kayakers
Its a rare occasion to see a massasauga rattlesnake in Michigan, but even a rarer occasion to see one swimming in the water.
According to MLive, Jonathan Hotham along with his wife Jessica stumbled upon, I guess I should say kayaked upon, a rattlesnake swimming in Cleveland Lake near Brooklynn Michigan.
The Hotham couple were were spending the day on a kayak fishing excursion when they spotted the snake.
According to the Department of Natural Resources, the Eastern massasauga rattlesnake are Michigan's only poisonous snake.
Jonathan told MLive that he guessed the snake was about 27 to 29 inches long.
Just a quick heads up, if you stumble across a massasauga rattlesnake, turn and go the other way. These snakes are unpredictable and are venomous.
