Is Raising Cane’s FINALLY Coming to West Michigan?
There are some fast food joints that seem to get more hype than others - especially when there are just a few locations (or none at all) in your state.

That definitely seems to be the case with Raising Cane's. It often tops lists of restaurants residents want in West Michigan.
For a long time there were zero in Michigan, but that changed in 2022, with one of the fast food chicken joints opening up in East Lansing. Take a look inside it here.
So are more on the way to the Mitten State? Specifically West Michigan? It sounds like it IS a possibility.
Whenever I visit family in Columbus, Ohio, there seems to be a Raising Cane's on nearly every corner. On a trip over Christmas, my younger brother tried it for the first time. His take? It definitely lives up to the hype. So what's all the fuss about?
Well, if you've not been they're known for their hand-battered, fresh-never-frozen chicken tenders. Raising Cane's menu is famously small. In addition to chicken fingers and sandwiches, you'll find crinkle-cut fries, coleslaw, Texas toast, and their signature Cane's sauce.
They never add items, because their CEO feels that focusing on what you do best allows you to offer the best product.
Will Raising Cane's open up in West Michigan? According to MLive:
Developers want to demolish two homes near the corner of Milham Avenue and Westnedge Avenue in Portage to make way for a Raising Cane’s Chicken Fingers location.
Here's a look at that Portage location on a map.
We'll know more after a Portage City Council meeting on Tuesday, Jan. 9, where a proposal to rezone the the properties for business and off-street parking use is being presented.
Stay tuned for updates!
