Earlier this week, Grand Action 2.0 broke ground on the highly anticipated new Acrisure Amphitheater 12,000-seat venue that will feature lawn seating, an upper and lower concourse, a terrace, a VIP pavilion and will feature "ample green space" so the amphitheater can be used for formal and informal gatherings year round. It is expected to take about 2 years to complete.

The amphitheater is expected to draw all kinds of attention from major artists, with Grand Rapids Mayor Rosalynn Bliss stating

It'll fill in a gap in the summer when quite frankly, a lot of performers don't want to perform inside.

So what performers does Grand Rapids want to see at this new state-of-the-art facility? We took to our Facebook page to find out.

Michigan Acts

A large portion of the comments believe we should have an artist from Michigan be the opening act as a way to honor the legacy of Michigan music. Some people say artists like Greta Van Fleet (Frankenmuth), who played at the Van Andel Arena last week, Pop Evil (Muskegon), Eminem (Detroit), or Kid Rock (Detroit) would be a stellar way to launch this venue considering how big of an impact this amphitheater could have on West Michigan.

Other Artists

As for artists outside of Michigan, the options are endless. WGRD listeners had plenty of ideas. Foo Fighters, Red Hot Chili Peppers, and Pearl Jam were popular choices. Shinedown, who also recently was in Grand Rapids, was a consistent request in the comments, along with Disturbed and Billy Strings. But the most popular request was the German band, Rammstein. If their show was anything like the one in this clip, I see why people would want them so badly.

You can view all the artist ideas here, and if you have one that wasn't listed, let us know in the comments on that post.
