Unfortunately a small plane carrying three people that were headed to the Coleman A. Young International Airport in Detroit crashed around 8 p.m. in a vacant lot in Detroit on Sunday. Two of the three passengers died in the crash.

According to the Detroit News, Detroit Police Captain , Mark Thorntan, said to the media that the plane had hit a power line, then a tree, then flipped over and caught on fire.

One person survived the crash.

According to reports, bystanders utilized baseball bats to enter the plane to gain access to the survivor who was conscious and speaking when he was then taken to the hospital.

The victims have yet to be identified since the families still need to be notified.

The crash will be investigated by the Federal Aviation Administration who have been notified of the incident.

The plane was coming in to Detroit from Texas but no word on why the plane was headed to Detroit.
