Did you know Michigan has a banana bread festival? Well, it does now!

Michigan has festivals to celebrate all sorts of things - Baby Food, Blueberries, Bologna - and those are just the ones that also start with "B"... so why not Banana Bread?

The 1st Annual Banana Bread Festival was recently held in Petoskey!

On February 1, 2025, Grand Shorters Gifts invited folks to bring in their signature banana bread for a friendly competition. To add to the fun, other business downtown Petoskey offered banana-themed specials.

A panel of judges, including a professional chef, gave out awards in four categories: Amateur Baker, Professional Baker, Child Baker, Gluten-Free.

And it sounds like the Petoskey's first ever Banana Bread Fest was a smashing success!

According to Grandpa Shorters Facebook page, a whopping 85 loaves were entered in the competition.

Not only does this sound like a fun (and tasty!) event, but they also helped out some great charities.

The loaves were donated to The Salvation Army Petoskey, Michigan Corps, Women's Resource Center of Northern Michigan, Harbor Hall, Inc., and The Nehemiah Project.
