The Detroit Red Wings will begin their 2015-16 campaign against a familiar foe, as the NHL announced the Wings' 2015-16 season schedule earlier today (June 25).

On October 9th, the Red Wings will begin their season at the Joe Louis Arena. Who will they play? None other than the Toronto Maple Leafs and former coach Mike Babcock, who left the Motor City for Canada in the offseason.

According to DetroitRedWings.com, the Wings will play a total of 34 back-to-back games in the 2015-16 season, 12 of which will happen before Thanksgiving.

There are a lot of games to highlight on the schedule, specifically a home game against the Boston Bruins the night before Thanksgiving (Nov. 25) and a home game against the Pittsburgh Penguins on New Years Eve (Dec. 31).
