More often than not, what catches your eye turns out to be a plane, helicopter, satellite, or perhaps the occasional meteor. What was scene over Michigan this weekend sent the internet into a frenzy of speculation about just what was lighting up the sky.

Grand Rapids subredditors debated what they saw in the sky.

Michigan has long been a hotspot for reported UFO sightings but so far this thread has not indicated any green men.

It is pretty consistent with most people on the thread believing it was a meteor.

It appears experts were also looking into the mysterious light.

Strange Object Seen Overhead Sparks Questions

The Detroit News confirmed that the mysterious object spotted across Michigan was, in fact, a fireball meteor. The meteor was seen around 8:47 p.m., with reports stretched from Toronto to Cheboygan. If you missed it, you can catch a quick glimpse of the meteor in the X post below.
Several people across western and southwestern Michigan also reported seeing the meteor streak across the sky.

The Michigan Storm Chasers saw the meteor broke a part somewhere over Lake Huron or Ontario.
