UPDATE: Man Missing From Ionia County Found Safe

UPDATE: Michigan State Police say Michael Swenor has been found safe. 

A search is underway in Ionia County after a man who went out for an afternoon walk over the weekend never made it home.

The Michigan State Police is asking for the public's help finding 54-year-old Michael Lee Swenor, who disappeared after leaving his home on Murphy Road in Lyons Township sometime between 4 and 5 p.m. on Saturday, June 27.

He has been diagnosed with schizophrenia and there is concern for his safety.

Swenor is described as a white man with a slender build, standing 5 feet 11 inches tall and weighing about 175 pounds. He is balding and may have scruffy facial hair.

When he was last seen, he was wearing a gray tank top, blue jeans, gray socks, and size 10 Crocs.

Police believe he may still be somewhere in the Muir or Ionia area. However, investigators also say he could be attempting to hitchhike north to Marquette.

Cases like this often depend on someone recognizing a face or remembering a person they may have passed along the road.
