People in Michigan have always embraced winter with outdoor fun, from snowmobiling and ice fishing to sledding and skiing. What’s surprising, though, is that they’ve discovered yet another creative way to make the most of a Michigan winter outside.
Things to do Outside in a Michigan Winter
One of the most budget-friendly ways to enjoy a Michigan winter, besides building a snowman or having a snowball fight, is to grab a sled or tube and slide down a nearby neighborhood hill.
Ice fishing is a big deal in Michigan, along with skiing, snowboarding, cross country skiing, fat-tire biking, and snowshoeing.
Many Michiganders enjoy riding snowmobiles, ATVs, and side-by-sides as a fun winter activity. Side-by-sides have grown in popularity over the last few years. There is a new up and comer that has an engine on it that is starting to gain some momentum.

MoonBike Sparks New Winter Fun in Michigan
It’s not a minibike, nor a snowmobile, but a blend of the two, and riding one is completely legal in Michigan. Known as a MoonBike, it features a rear track similar to a snowmobile on the back with a ski on the front, weighs around 260 pounds, can reach speeds of up to 26 mph, and is fully electric.
