According to WXYZ, the parent company of Michigan's Adventure and Cedar Point, Cedar Fair, has merged with Six Flags. This process started in 2023 and was completed on July 1, 2024.

Cedar Fair and Six Flags properties all fall under the Six Flags Entertainment Corporation. This is not a buyout but a merger that is supposed to make the parks better but the information I have read this was more for stockholders than consumers. This was similar to when Ticketmaster and Live Nation merged and we've seen how that worked out for consumers with the highest ticket prices in history.

The only exciting news from this merger for consumers is, that no one from the Cedar Fair or Six Flags teams has been fired but instead, the two creative teams will now work together. Both brands have great rides so it will be interesting to see what new rides come to the respective parks and if ticket pricing will come down.

Michigan's Adventure and Cedar Point and parks in the Six Flags camp will all keep their park names since they have established brands. So Michigan's Adventure and Cedar Point will not be called Six Flags.
