Back in 2018, the place where kids and adults like to go to "never grow up" announced it would be closing its doors for good after slumping sales. Toys 'R' Us was once the go-to place to buy toys, but as consumers increasingly turned to online shopping to purchase their goods, the brick-and-mortar business began to struggle, ultimately resulting in the liquidation of every store.

Despite the brand's attempts to reopen in various ways since then, it remains significantly smaller than it was in its heyday. However, the beleaguered brand made a shocking announcement this week that Geoffrey the Giraffe is back, and this time, it is adopting a similar business model to a seasonal company that holds a special place in our hearts.

Michigan's Lone Toys "R" Us

Michigan is already one of the few states in the US with a dedicated Toys "R" Us store, but, like many around the country, it is inside Macy's locations as part of its current retail strategy. Go! Retail Group, the parent company of Toys "R" Us, announced that seven new locations would be opening, but none of these will be in Michigan.
