Wouldn’t Less Power Outages Occur If Michigan’s Power Lines Were Buried?
What if Michigan's power lines were buried? Wouldn't there be fewer power outages, plus making our streets and neighborhoods look better while saving the state money?
Michigan Power Lines
I can't say that I have ever seen an attractive telephone pole that also carries power lines and cable lines to homes.
Is it me, but wouldn't our skylines look better if there were no power lines at all?
We have the capability to run power lines under the water, wouldn't it be just as easy to run power lines under the ground?
If Michigan's power lines were underground, lightning, tornadoes, and ice storms would have no impact on our power going out in a storm. An automobile would no longer be able to run into a pole and knock the power out to that street or even the entire town because if the powerlines were underground, nothing could knock them over.
Consumers Energy Looking to Bury Michigan's, Power Lines
In an attempt to strengthen Michigan's power grid, Consumers Energy is looking at creating a pilot program where they would bury the power lines underground.
According to FOX 17, Consumers Energy says burying the power lines would increase the state's grid while decreasing the number of power outages helping save the company and the state big money.
Having a pilot program to bury power lines will allow Consumers Energy to find the safest and most cost-effective way to protect our power lines. The company hopes to get approval to bury 400 miles of power lines each year in the state until the project is complete.
