These Are Michigan’s Most Loved Guitar Solos

Many great bands and guitar players come from Michigan. Recently, Michiganders picked out their favorite Michigan guitar solos.

I sifted through the Reddit post to highlight some of Michigan's favorite solos. I didn't post on the thread, but I have to admit that Ted Nugent's solo on Stranglehold is a classic.

Michigan has several guitar legends dating back to the 1960s, up to 2025. There is no question that Ted Nugent's Amboy Dukes and his solo career were a big part of the guitar hero age. Michigan also had Wayne Kramer from The MC5, Mark Farner from Grand Funk Railroad, Glenn Frey from the Eagles, Drew Abbott, Bob Seger's longtime guitarist, Dick Wagner of Alice Cooper, Wayne Static of Static-X, John 5, now playing with Motley Crue, Jake Kiszka of Greta Van Fleet, Jack White, and many more.

Top Guitar Solos From The Mitten State, Chosen By You

Recently, on the Michigan Reddit page, Michiganders shared what they thought were the best Michigan guitar solos.

I figured a song featuring Jack White would have to make the list. White has been one of the most innovative guitarists of today.

Umphrey's McGee is a band based in South Bend, Indiana, but guitarist Jake Cinniger is from Niles, Michigan, and a great player.

John 5 played with David Lee Roth, Rob Halford, Marilyn Manson, Rob Zombie, and now Motley Crue. He is also a solo artist who has some sick solos on those records.

Stranglehold has probably Ted Nugent's best guitar solo ever on that track.

I can't say enough good things about the guitar work on those Eagle songs. Let's not forget their incredible vocal harmonies, too.
