Have You Heard Of The ‘Cape Cod’ Of Michigan?
Cape Cod, Massachusetts is often regarded as one of the most beautiful places to visit in the entire country. Known for its unique shape, massive coastline, and bustling communities where something is always happening, it is home to Martha's Vineyard, a premier summer destination.

As it turns out, Michigan has a "Cape Cod" of its own, and it is equally as beautiful. Its biggest difference is that Michigan's "Cape Cod", known as Tawas Point, is in Lake Huron rather than the Atlantic Ocean.
Tawas Point State Park
Tawas Point State Park is located on Tawas Bay, a small bay inside Saginaw Bay where the water is shallow due to a sand bar. The State Park is 183 acres and is known being a popular camping point, especially for bird watchers. During the spring and fall, hundreds of migrating birds use the park as a "stopover site" before continuing their journey south/north.
Not only is Tawas State Park a gorgeous place to visit, but you could be among the lucky few who stay inside the Tawas Lighthouse as honorary lighthouse keepers during the summertime. Even if you're not an honorary lighthouse keeper, you're able to visit the lighthouse either way.
Though Tawas Point State Park doesn't have the villages or shopping that Cape Cod does, the Michigan "Cape Cod' is worthy of your time.
