Michigan Burger King Employee Accused of Pointing Gun at Drive-Thru Customers

A 24-year-old Garden City man is facing charges after allegedly pulling a gun on drive-thru customers at Burger King earlier this year, Fox 2 Detroit reports.

The incident occurred April 28, 2021 at Burger King at 29211 Seven Mile Road in Livonia.

Livonia Police shared video from inside the restaurant to Facebook, saying that Dustin Rocheleau, an employee at Burger King at the time, has been charged on an 8-count Felony Warrant related to firearms charges stemming from the incident.

Police say there had been been some sort of disagreement over the method of payment when Rocheleau, who was working the drive-thru at the time, allegedly pointed a handgun at three customers. In the video, another Burger King employee addresses Rocheleau after the incident and he exits the frame.

The customers drove away and called 911 while Rocheleau fled the Burger King on foot and was soon located by officers nearby. A handgun was found in his back pack and he was arrested without incident.

The second part of the video, starting at about :20 seconds, is police body camera footage of Rocheleau's arrest.

Rocheleau appeared in the 16th District Court on July 29, 2021 and waived his preliminary exam. According to CriminalDefenseLawyer.com, a preliminary exam, also known as a "probable cause" hearing, is "like a mini version of a trial, absent the jury. The judge assigned to the case will alone decide whether the prosecution has met their burden of proof."

Rocheleau is scheduled for Arraignment  this Thursday August, 5, 2021 in the 3rd Circuit Court.
