A Credible Bigfoot Encounter Reported in Southeast Michigan

A father and son say they encountered Bigfoot in a Monroe County swamp, adding to over 200 reported sightings across Michigan.

Settlers first explored Michigan in 1622 and discovered that Native American tribes already inhabited the state. Strangely, there aren't many sighting reports. Another oddity is that for an animal of that size, you'd expect remains to have been found.

In the day and age of trail cameras, if there were a Bigfoot in Michigan, some hunter would have captured a clear photo by now. People spotted cougars for years in the Upper Peninsula, and no one believed them until trail cameras captured them on film. Just a few months ago, cougar kittens were spotted in the U.P.

Bigfoot still fascinates me, even without hard evidence. I have to admit I am a sucker for those Bigfoot and UFO television shows.

Credible Bigfoot Encounter Reported in Southeast Michigan

According to MLive, a father and son claimed to have encountered Bigfoot in Monroe County on the Southeast side of Michigan, on May 18. The encounter occurred in a swampy forest area near I-75 and Laplaisance Road.

The father and son were bow fishing when their dogs jumped something in a marsh. One of the men claimed they heard something jump down from a tree and start coming toward the men.

It seems strange that a Bigfoot encounter allegedly occurred in Monroe County so close to Detroit in a populated area. Most sightings have been in the Upper Peninsula.

One of the men said their dog chased the creature, and it took off. The men described the animal as big as a bear but looked like a gorilla.

I can't believe a man and his son didn't pull out a phone to get a picture or film the event, but a BFRO investigator interviewed the father and son and found the description of the event credible.
