Growing up, there was a 24-hour joint in my hometown of South Haven called Ma's Coffee Pot. In my teen years, my friends and I would flock there in the early morning hours. I really didn't have any business being up so late, but the way I look at it, there were worse things I could have been doing than scarfing down blueberry pancakes at Ma's at 2a.m. Unfortunately, Ma's Coffee Pot shut down years ago.

According to the Food Institute, the pandemic really took a toll on open-all-night restaurants: The number of 24-hour diners has fallen 18% from 2020 to 2024.

The good news is that some 24/7 restaurants still exist!
