It's never a good idea to get behind the wheel of a motor vehicle after drinking, but even worse if you have malicious plans for your vehicle and some innocent mailboxes.

The police did manage to catch up to the driver of the vehicle that had been reported driving over mailboxes in a neighborhood near the corner of Williamston Road and Linn Road.

According to FOX 17"out of the 100 homes in the subdivision, you know they got half of the mailboxes," said neighborhood resident David Bouck, who went outside when it happened.

From the looks of the video below, this is a very nice neighborhood where the unsuspected mailboxes were attacked by the alleged drunk driver.

You can tell from how these mailboxes were easily run over that this neighborhood in Williamston never thought something like this would happen. I have lived in the country most of my life and country road mailboxes have been known to take a beating. I have pushed out several dents from baseball bats in my day.

FOX 17 reported, "I saw the car, red van, just kind of drove up into the yard and knocked over my mailbox and then drove back out. It looked very deliberate, you know like they were aiming for it," said Jason Mccallister.

One man said his mailbox wasn't destroyed but he is still upset that this happened in the neighborhood he lives in.

More than likely some of these homes had video security that more than likely caught some of this on camera. If you have any video footage or your mailbox was destroyed you are urged to contact the Williamston Police at 517.655.4222.

I am sure this is going to cost the driver dearly to replace all those mailboxes not to mention if he's found guilty of operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated.
