Man Hit and Killed by Taxi After Trying to Rob Driver Downtown Grand Rapids [VIDEO]
Jefferson Avenue was closed for several hours downtown Grand Rapids early Thursday morning while police investigated.
According to WZZM-13, a man was hit and killed by a taxi cab after attempting to rob the driver.
Police say a Calder City Taxi driver was dropping off a passenger, 45-year-old Timothy Coleman, at the intersection of Jefferson Avenue and Fulton street around 2a.m.
When the Coleman exited the car, he attempted to rob the driver, threatening him with a hammer.
Coleman was hit and killed when the driver of the cab attempted to flee.
As part of the investigation, the cab driver was questioned.
