Local Students Sail Away

The international University LipDub project began at Hochschule Furtwangen, a technical university in Germany.  The students there challenged other universities to show off their campuses while meeting the challenge of creating a music video in one single shot. Soon, universities from all over the world responded to the challenge, including our neighbor, Calvin College.

The idea behind LipDub is to choose a song which several people can lip sync to. The song that the committee chose was “Come Sail Away” by Styx.  We liked that it incorporated a water and sailing theme for the GVSU Lakers.  We also liked that it was a six-minute song which allowed us to travel to highlights of the Allendale campus.
