After closing unexpectedly in January, Kilwins ice cream and treat shop is back open in downtown Grand Rapids!

Wood-TV 8 reports that the location in McKay Tower on Monroe Center is under new ownership. The same group also owns Kilwins in East Grand Rapids.

In January Wood-TV 8 reported that the closure was due to the former franchise owner not paying suppliers or royalties.

Kilwins offers fudge, chocolates, ice cream, and other sweet treats.

The first Kilwins candy and bakery shop opened in Petoskey in 1947; and in 2016, Kilwins opened their 100th location nationwide.

Aside from the downtown and East Grand Rapids shops, there are Kilwins locations in Grandville, Holland, and Grand Haven.
