The phrase ‘Taco Tuesday’ has been around since the early 1970s, but taco makers in Grand Rapids are switching things up by celebrating “Taco Week” instead.

The White Star Cafeteria in El Paso, Texas, reportedly began offering taco specials on Tuesdays in 1933, but the phrase, “Taco Tuesday” didn’t appear in print until 1973. That first printed mention came from South Dakota, where the Snow White Drive-In in Rapid City is credited with coining the term.

Grand Rapids restaurants are putting a new spin on the tradition with ‘Grand Rapids Taco Week.'

Taco Tuesday Is Out. Taco Week Is In!

Grand Rapids Taco Week runs from October 12 through October 18, giving West Michigan taco lovers seven full days to enjoy great deals at restaurants throughout the area. It’s the perfect excuse to try a different restaurant each day and score taco deals all week.

FOX 17 reported that taco fans will need to download the Grand Rapids Taco Week app, select participating restaurants in the app to find $3 taco deals during Taco Week.
