Following this summer's Invasion solo album from guitarist John 5 and its subsequent tours, the musician and his backup band the Creatures are planning to record a live album based around that release. Live Invasion will document concerts from the group's upcoming world tour dates.

But don't expect the release to only capture what appears on the album. As the guitarist recently told Australia's Sticks for Stones ahead of the Creatures' April 2020 gigs in that country, Live Invasion will be an upgraded experience that features some extra twists and turns. Listen to the interview down toward the bottom of this post.

"We are going to record the shows because I'm working on a live record called Live Invasion," John 5 explained, as transcribed by Blabbermouth. "We're going to do all the songs from Invasion and record them, but you're not going to hear just the songs from the latest album."

He continued, "You'll hear a bunch of stuff. We do this really cool, long medley of, like, 60 riffs. It's going to be a very special show, and people are going to be super excited and really happy with how it turns out. We're going to work really hard on it."

Elsewhere in the chat, John 5 took some time to amp fans up for the next Rob Zombie album, on which he performs. He had previously described the effort as Zombie's best "to date — better than White Zombie," the lead singer's early band, and John 5 echoed those sentiments to Sticks for Stones.

"It's super-heavy," the guitarist said. "It's super-hooky, and it's got really rad riffs on it, cool everything, great vocals, great melodies. I'm a Rob Zombie fan before I got in the band and a White Zombie [fan], and if it came out [then], I'd be super, super psyched. I'm really excited for people to hear it."

Of course, John 5 also played guitar for both Marilyn Manson and David Lee Roth in the past. Earlier this year, the bluegrass-inspired shredder showed Loudwire some of his otherworldly guitar riffs. See all of John 5 and the Creatures' upcoming tour dates below, and get tickets here.
