Jogger Dies After Being Hit by Car in Fruitport

A 39-year-old woman has died after being struck by a car in Fruitport Township.

WZZM-13 reports the accident happened around 4:12p.m. on Saturday on E. Pontaluna Road near North Point Drive.

An 18-year-old female was driving and lost control of the vehicle, hitting the woman jogging on the shoulder.

The driver was taken to the hospital and treated for minor injuries.

The identity of the victim has not been released.

Police say the investigation into the cause of the accident is ongoing.
