Michigan Has Been Getting Some Love On Jeopardy!
Since 1984, Jeopardy! has been one of America's highest-rated TV shows, consistently drawing millions of viewers every week despite maintaining the same format for 41 years (or 61 years, if you count the original series). While there have been some general changes over the years, such as the game's most popular contestant, Ken Jennings, is the show's new host, the rules of the game remain the same.

Viewers can always expect blue screens with white text and progressively more difficult questions, players gaining and losing money based on whether they were correct or not. These questions and the categories they belong to can be pretty obscure, and the hints seem to have no discernible pattern. However, in recent episodes, Michigan has been getting some love as it has been at the center of multiple questions.
Michigan Makes Two Jeopardy! Appearances
Within three days, Michigan was the topic of two questions, once on June 6th and the other on June 9th. On June 6th, Michigan appeared as the topic of discussion in the opening round of questions. For $200, contestants had to solve this easy question that any Michigander could have gotten:
Michigan has had this nickname, for the winter-wear shape of the lower peninsula, since at least 1901
Contestant Brian got it right with his answer of "Mitten", but ultimately it wasn't enough for him as he finished second on the day to Nikhil, who was the champion and went on to win the next couple of days in a row, appearing on the next episode featuring Michigan.

On June 9th, Michigan appeared in the Jeopardy! Round for a less-than-savory subject: "LET'S TALK ABOUT POLLUTION". For $800, contestants had to answer this question:
In April 2014 this Michigan city began getting its drinking water from the same-named river, & legions of health issues ensued
Contestant Jackie got it correct with "Flint". This question was crucial in helping her end the day on top, with a final tally of $22,001. You can view more Michigan-themed Jeopardy! questions below.
