Scott Richard Rookus, 45, of Jenison, has been accused of running a 1.5 million Ponzi scheme over the span of five years, WZZM-13 reports

Many of Rookus' clients were senior citizens living on a fixed a income.

Through his financial holding company New Haven Holdings, Rookus took money from his clients, promising them returns on investments, but instead used the money for himself.

Rookus crimes were discovered after he filed for bankruptcy last year.

He is facing 33 felony charges including criminal enterprise and embezzlement.
