Jared Goff’s Super Bowl Promise During Team USA’s World Cup Match
The second weekend of June was arguably one of the greatest weekends in American history. The FIFA World Cup kicked off with the USA as one of three host countries (and won its opening match in dominant fashion against Paraguay), the New York Knicks won their first NBA Championship in 53 years, and the Carolina Hurricanes won their second Stanley Cup, their first since 2006.

While there was all this sports buzz taking place, there was a moment of excitement for the other type of football, one that Detroit is more familiar with. Star quarterback Jared Goff made a promise to an unexpected fan, none other than IShowSpeed, about Detroit's Super Bowl future while in attendance at the Team USA match.

Detroit's Super Bowl Season?
Popular streamer IShowSpeed was among many other soccer fans at Team USA's opening match on Friday in LA. IShowSpeed, a Detroit native, received a FaceTime call from his dad while streaming live from his box at Los Angeles Stadium/SoFi Stadium.

It seems either his dad or someone in the Twitch chat said Detroit Lions quarterback Jared Goff was standing right behind him.
So, per IShowSpeed's dad's request, Speed turned and asked where Jared Goff was, and after getting his attention, Speed held the phone up to Goff so Speed's dad could give Goff a message:
Hey, you gotta bring us a Championship this year, man!
Goff replied:
I got you.
Then, jokingly, told Speed's dad to put on a shirt. Jared took the interaction in stride, and his promise to bring a Championship doesn't feel unrealistic.

After last season's disappointing record and missing the playoffs, the Lions made multiple big draft picks, hired a new Offensive Coordinator, and Dan Campbell has reported that many of the key injured players, like Brandon Branch and Kerby Joseph, are making progress toward returning.
Hopefully, we'll see the Lions return to the heights of their 2024 season.
