What Food Is Being Recalled In Michigan?

Reports are saying that there is a popular baby food that is being recalled at stores across the state of Michigan.

The FDA is warning parents and any caregivers that you may want to stay clear of buying or feeding your babies the WanaBana apple cinnamon fruit puree pouches.

The reports say that the WanaBana apple cinnamon fruit puree pouches may contain elevated levels of lead!!!

The WanBana company has agreed to the recall regardless of whether they are expired or not.

Food Safety News shared that

"WanaBana apple cinnamon fruit puree pouches are sold nationally and are available through multiple retailers including Sam’s Club, Amazon and Dollar Tree."

Please be careful before buying the products at any of these retailers.

What Should You Do If Your Baby Has EatenThe WanaBana Pouches?

In the public warning from the Food and Drug Administration, the government agency is warning parents of toddlers who have eaten the WanaBana apple cinnamon fruit puree pouches that they should contact their baby's healthcare provider to get a blood test.

What Can Lead Do To Your Child?

Lead is incredibly toxic to humans and can affect people of any age or health.

"Protecting children from exposure to lead is important to lifelong good health. Lead exposure in children is often difficult to see. Most children have no obvious immediate symptoms. If there’s suspicion that a child may have been exposed to lead, parents should talk to their child’s healthcare provider about getting a blood test. Although lead can only be diagnosed through clinical testing, signs and symptoms of lead toxicity vary based on exposure."

If you have short-term exposure, you may experience a headache, abdominal pain/colic, vomiting, and/or anemia.

If you have a longer exposure, you can experience the symptoms from above and irritability, lethargy, fatigue, muscle aches or muscle prickling, constipation, difficulty concentrating, tremors, and weight loss.
